Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Germandorf from Roswell located in the state of New Mexico, fell in Love with Colorado. The place he settled was Aspen. A few took the road through Colorado after hearing Denver's popular tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared it was because John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fames' initial inductee, was honoured by the honor in 2011. For many, Denver is the image of Colorado. Certainly in my travels you encounter someone on the other part of the globe, someone from New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the first word that comes out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short career performing in small folk music bands comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the song for Johnny Cash but Denver recognized its potential after hearing it first. He recorded it a couple of days after having performed in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
